| | Description | CEH is the leading body in the UK for research, survey, and monitoring in terrestrial and freshwater environments. CEH Web provides information about our science products and data. On 1st April 2000, The Institute of Freshwater Ecology (IFE), the Institute of Hydrology, the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology and the Institute of Virology and Environmental Microbiology were drawn together to form the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH). The CEH Windermere Laboratory continues the work in freshwater sciences started by the Freshwater Biological Association and continued by the IFE. The laboratory therefore draws on over 70 years experience into all aspects of freshwater research, and has produced more than 3,800 scientific papers. CEH Wallingford was formerly the Institute of Hydrology.
