Marinlg International is a worldwide Association founded in 1975 between French, Danish, Norwegian and US companies and now has members on every continent.

Their mission and objectives are:

- The main purpose of the Association is to promote the image and use of seaweed-derived hydrocolloids in foods, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics

- The Association represents the regulatory interest of the seaweed-processing industry before various international bodies such as the Codex Alimentarius, the European Union and national authorities, supplying documentation and opinions on a range of subjects of interest to the Association.
