oneFish Help: Managing Items in your Inbox

About your Inbox
After login, click on the My oneFish link that appears below your login name and you will be taken to your oneFish Inbox.

The oneFish Inbox is where Members receive postings about Knowledge Objects or Topics they own or have suggested. These postings are for information only and can be removed by checking the adjacent box and clicking on the submit button.

For Topic Editors, the Inbox is where they receive postings about Knowledge Objects or Subtopics that have been submitted to a Topic they edit, and which require a decision, e.g. accept, reject or forward to another topic.

Approve Submitted [New] KO
When a KO is suggested to a topic, the following is an example and an explanation of what is displayed in the Inbox.

STAKEHOLDER: International organizations: FAO: FishCode (1)
08/02/2002 14.21(2) News Article(3) (40646) (4)
Lore Cardillo (5) has submitted Fisheries policy online guide (6) to FishCode (7)
Do nothing
Yes    No    Forward to alternate topic

(1) The topic to which the KO has been submitted.
(2) The date and time the KO was submitted.
(3) Type of KO.
(4) oneFish submission number (not the eventual KO ID number).
(5) The name of the member who has submitted the KO. Clicking on the member's name will take you to the member's contact KO to view their contact information/biodata.
(6) The title of the submitted KO. Clicking on the KO title will take you to the Edit form, where you can view/edit the KO metadata before submitting (accepting) it. You can also suggest relating this KO to other topics at this stage.
(7) The topic the KO is being submitted to. If you click on the topic title you will go to the topic knowledge screen.

As a Topic Editor you must decide what action to take:

Do nothing
The su
ggested KO remains in a pending state and is not linked to any topic(s). The posting will remain in your Inbox either until you make a decision at a later date, or until a Joint Topic Editor makes a decision about this KO.

Yes
Accepts the KO into the topic it was submitted to. The member who submitted the KO is then sent a posting to his/her oneFish Inbox saying the KO has been added under the topic it was submitted to.

No
Rejects the KO and it is deleted from the system. The member who suggested the KO is sent a posting to his/her inbox saying the KO has been rejected.

Forward to alternate topic
A different topic ID can be entered if the topic editor decides the KO is more suitable to another topic. The posting will then be forwarded to the Inbox of the editor of the topic the KO has been forwarded to. This topic editor now has the responsibility to decide what to do with the suggested KO. (Remember to check the adjacent button and enter the number of the topic this posting is to be forwarded to in the box. Use the All Topics (link at top of screen) to find the alternative topic number.)

Approve New KO to Topic Relationship/Link

RELATING/LINKING TWO TOPICS
When a Topic Editor relates or links a topic you edit to his/her topic, a notice will be posted in your oneFish Recent Activity screen informing you that your topic has been linked to another topic.

SUSPECT URL / WEB ADDRESS
Periodically all of the URLs / Web Addresses in oneFish are checked for validity. If a URL does not link a notice will be posted to the Inbox of the Editor of the Topic that the KO with the invalid URL is linked to, e.g.

STAKEHOLDER: International organizations: FAO : FishCode(14)
08/02/2002(15) Suspect URL (40675)
(16)
Fishery products safety guidelines(17) linked to FishCode(18)

Remove this posting

(14) Topic to which the KO with the suspect URL/web address is linked.
(15) Date the suspect URL was noted.
(16) Requested Action.
(17) KO that contains the suspect URL. Clicking on the KO title or the preceding info icon will take you to the info screen for this KO.
(18) Topic to which the KO with the suspect URL/web address is linked. Clicking on the topic title or the preceding info icon will take you to the topic knowledge screen for this topic.

As a Topic Editor you must look at the KO and check suspect URL and decide what action to take, e.g.

  • From the KO Info Screen check that the URL in the KO is still not working. Try linking to it by clicking on the URL, and by cutting and pasting it into the browser address bar.
  • If the URL is correct, but is just not working from oneFish, then report this to the Chief Editor.
  • If the URL is no longer valid and you want to keep the KO in your topic then you must search the Internet and try to find the correct/new URL, and edit the KO.
  • If the URL is no longer valid, and you do not want to keep the KO in your topic, then Delete the KO.
  • Check the radio button in your Inbox to remove the posting.

Please note that if you go into the Edit screen of a KO and the URL is still invalid you will not be able to submit the KO, but rather only use the Previous (Cancel) button to escape the Edit screen.
