IIFET's President, Mahfuz Ahmed, its Executive Committee, and Executive Director Ann Shriver, welcome you to participate in our next biennial conference superbly sited in historic Portsmouth UK, on the English Channel. The dates of the IIFET 2006 Portsmouth are Tuesday July 11-Friday July 14, 2006. The biennial conference will be held at the University of Portsmouth, and will be organized by Sean Pascoe and his team at the University of Portsmouth's Centre for the Economics and Management of Aquatic Resources (CEMARE) http://www.port.ac.uk/research/cemare/. Pre- and post conference tours, events, etc. will be also be planned.
Current theme ideas include:
* Fish for the future: recovering fisheries from collapse
* Biodiversity: fisheries and the ecosystem (including modeling fisheries' interactions with the environment).
Ideas are being collected on strengthening the seafood markets portion of the program, a post-tsunami assessment session(s), and other topics.
