| | Short Institution Name | AQUADES | | Description | The AQUADES - Aquaculture and Development Association - began in 2000 with a mission to promote the sustainable development of aquaculture in the Ancash Region of Peru. Its membership comprises a Biologist in Aquaculture and University Students - currently eleven members. AQUADES began as an answer to the little interest shown in aquaculture by people and as a new way for professionals to obtain training in this activity. In the last few years we have organized training courses in aquaculture and participated in several aquaculture events. Today, we work with Artisanal Fishermen of Samanco Bay to development a project to farm "scallop" (bivalve). In addition, we give information about Peruvian aquaculture to farmers.
