This topic comprises the various outputs from the World Bank-funded study `Good Management Practice in Sustainable Fisheries'. The outputs include 15 Policy Briefs. The purpose of the Policy Briefs is to ensure effective dissemination of information collected and generated as a result of the World Bank-funded Study, but they also draw upon complementary information from the ACP Fish II Feasibility Study (EC), and a Workshop on Fiscal Reform in Fisheries (DFID and GTZ). The Briefs are designed for those who are managing change in fisheries and who are concerned to make well-informed decisions. They aim to distil theoretical debate and field experience so that it becomes easily accessible and useful across a range of situations. Their purpose is to assist in the process of decision-making rather than to provide definitive answers. The book "Successful Fisheries Management. Issues, Case Studies and Perspectives" is published by Eburon (ISBN 90 5972 061 X)
The 15 Briefs in this series have been produced by Tim Bostock and Peter Manning of SIFAR and Stephen Cunningham, Arthur Neiland and Elizabeth Bennett of IDDRA. Inputs from Christophe Béné (WorldFish Center) are also gratefully acknowledged. Web design and production by Joan Baron Varley (SIFAR).
