Event: a type of KO submitted to a topic by a registered member or added and/or uploaded by the topic editor or chief editor. An event may be a conference, meeting, seminar, exhibition or other type of gathering relevant to the subject coverage of oneFish. Headlines: include news, events, jobs and polls on issues of current concern, depending on the topic selected. Headline objects (sometimes called Media Objects) may be submitted or suggested by registered members, or added by the topic editor or chief editor. News, Events and Jobs have an expiry date, afterwhich they are automatically deleted from the system. Inbox: found by clicking on My oneFish - your personal space in oneFish - and comprising a list of postings awaiting action. Knowledge Object (KO): any data in any format that can be uploaded to the oneFish Community Directory Server (CDS); entered into the oneFish CDS via fill-in forms, e.g. documents, multimedia, contacts; or linked to the oneFish CDS, e.g. websites. KOs can only be submitted by registered members. KO Comments: oneFish members can add free-form text comments to any knowledge object. KO Comments use similar functionality to Discussions, allowing a discussion to be focussed around a specific KO. Linked Topic: a linked topic appears in the list of subtopics, with an "@" after the title to distinguish it from actual subtopics. A linked topic is actually a subtopic elsewhere in the system. A linked topic is extremely relevant to the current topic. Mailing List Archive (MLA) : a oneFish Discussion KO which automatically captures/archives postings to a mailing/discussion list hosted elsewhere on the Internet. Member: users may search or browse the system anonymously or they can register and gain a oneFish member password. A registered member can participate in polls and discussions, submit items to be added, and request regular email updates. Member Group: a group of oneFish members. Any permissions assigned to a member group apply to all members of that group. This is used to restrict or control access levels to certain topics. News: a type of KO submitted to a topic by a registered member or added and uploaded by the topic editor or chief editor. News items have expiry dates, afterwhich they are automatically deleted from the system. Parent Topic: the connected topic one level up in the hierarchy from the current topic. A topic may only have one parent topic. Permission: a permission dictates the action that may be executed on a topic. Examples of Permissions include: read only; submit knowledge; edit; and delete. Permissions are set by the Topic Editor using the matrix at the bottom of the topic form. Polls: a type of KO. Topical issues that registered members are invited to vote on. Related Topic: related topics appear below the topic description in a drop-down list of related topics. Related topics are moderately relevant to the current topic. Stakeholder/Organisations Worldview: individuals and organizations involved in or impacted upon by fisheries and aquatic research and development, classified by organization type and geographic region where appropriate. Subtopic: equivalent to a sub-category and comprises a connected topic one level down from the current topic. A topic may have many subtopics. Topic: equivalent to a subject category and comprises a grouping of knowledge within a specific subject area. Topic Editor: a registered member of oneFish who has volunteered to act as a content administrator for a particular topic and/or topic tree. Topic Tree: a topic and subtopics and their subtopics, etc. etc. Virtual Office: an institutional topic with various subtopics relating to the activities of the organization, institution or project. Worldview: A top level topic that provides an access route to the information in oneFish. Worldviews include: Donors/Project, Aquaculture, Freshwater Fisheries, Marine and Coastal Fisheries, Utilization and Technology, Stakeholder/Organisations and Virtual Offices. |
